"Hike to the top of Spiral Butte for great views of the White Pass and Goat Rocks area. The course passes a several ponds as you hike through the now smaller and thinner subalpine timber. Between the groves of trees are small meadows, where elk can sometimes be observed.

Start: Dog Lake Campground and Trailhead. at Dog Lake Campground and Trailhead. Type of hike: Out-and-back long day hike or backpack. Best months: July–September. Special considerations: Mosquitoes can be a problem, especially between Cramer Lake Shellrock Lake Trail, in July and August."
