Shoe Lake Trail

Shoe Lake Trail Professional Review and Guide

"It’s unfortunate that prior abuses of the Shoe Lake Basin have forced the area to be closed to camping, but the lake and the trails to it are pretty enough that a long day hike to the area is well worth the effort.

Campers overran Shoe Lake in the 1980s, and the fragile meadows around the pond were crisscrossed with social trails and dotted with bare-earth tent sites. In the years since camping has been prohibited, the vegetation has slowly recovered, though faint trails still show through the wildflowers."
