Sand Ridge Trail 1104

Sand Ridge Trail 1104 Professional Review and Guide

"Hike nearly all the way across the William O. Douglas Wilderness to a beautiful subalpine lake, enjoying the diverse flora and fauna as you go. The course follows Sand Ridge as it climbs to the northwest, passing some large ponderosa pines. Oregon grape bushes and strawberries cover much of the ground on the ridgeline.

At the trailhead the trail appears to fork:Take the right fork and pass a TRAIL sign. From the trailhead at 3,390 feet elevation, the wide trail climbs north through medium-age fir and tamarack forest. In about 100 yards you will come to a junction. Turn left (northwest); the trail to the right descends back to the parking area but nearly fades out before reaching it."
