Shaw Island Circumnavigation

Shaw Island: Circumnavigation Professional Review and Guide

"Located in the heart of the San Juan Islands, the waters around Shaw Island usually have the highest concentration of kayakers in the area during summer. Mild currents and alongshore paddling with few crossings make some routes here popular for less-experienced paddlers, particularly those trying kayak camping for the first time.

Route options include an easy day, a short overnight, and a longer circumnavigation of Shaw Island with stops at neighboring parks and Cascadia Marine Trail sites. The circumnavigation can easily include Jones Island (see the Jones Island chapter)."
