Road 1107 Face the Mountain

Road 1107: Face the Mountain Professional Review and Guide

"The end of this road is the perfect spot to stand and face the mountain. The main road leads to the popular Watson Lake Trail, but this sideroad is a well-ignored jewel. In addition to The Mountain, you have a birds-eye view of the lower valley. This definitely has one of the best views in the area.

At the beginning of the trek are some nice views down to Shannon Lake and the Baker Lake Dam. The road has a gradual incline through a young evergreen forest. A mile down the road, you’ll pass four turnouts with fire rings. In another /2 mile is a clearing on the crest of the ridge. On one side you can peer down a steep valley and wonder how they logged it without falling off. Continuing down the road for another 1/4 mile brings you to a precipice with a majestic view of The Mountain. When you get here you are staring Baker in the face. It is really nice. The best time to come here is early in the morning. It’s secluded, and there is a good chance you’ll see some wildlife."
