Ravenna and Laurelhurst Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"When you’re in parts of Ravenna and Cowen Parks, you can pretend you’ve stepped back in time, to when Seattle was still a tree-covered wilderness. The park’s a second-growth forest; the original trees had been cut down by the 1920s. But after nine decades, these replacement trees have become tall, mature specimens in their own right.
The park’s especially grand when you’re walking along the bottom of an old glacial ravine, where the developed city disappears from sight. The park’s surrounding residential neighborhoods, traditionally home to University of Washington (UW) faculty members and other professionals, sport their own kind of spectacles, particularly at Christmastime."
