Fremont Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Fremont proclaims itself the “center of the universe” and does what it can to live up to its Latin-like motto: De libertas quirkas, or “Freedom to be peculiar.” Its mixed image—funky and weird, with a dollop of hipster—makes Fremont a destination for visitors and natives alike.

It’s a remarkable outcome for a neighborhood that during 120 years of existence has been battered by one socioeconomic upheaval after another, played out in a tiny crucible of just 1.4 square miles."

More recently, it’s become a nightlife and dining destination, promoting itself as the Center of the Universe. Its most famous attraction is the annual Solstice Parade, with artsy floats, alternative marching bands, and body-painted cyclists." Read more
