First Hill Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"“Seattle’s 1st Neighborhood,” as promotional street banners call it, is a residential neighborhood overlooking downtown. Once the timber came down from these slopes in the late 19th century, prestigious big homes went up; four of them are still standing as restored historic sites.
It’s also informally known as Pill Hill, with most of Seattle’s major hospitals, and as Catholic Hill, with several major ecclesiastical institutions, including the city’s principal cathedral, a Jesuit university campus, and an angular modern chapel. You also pass art spaces devoted to realist painting and contemporary photography, and a stunning century-old hotel."
