Fairview and Eastlake Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"In old Japan, the term floating world referred to nomadic aristocrats who were untethered to the land or to the rural economy. In Seattle, it’s a close-knit subculture of a few hundred affluent households living in houseboats, as glorified in the film Sleepless in Seattle.
About half of these houseboats are moored along the east side of Lake Union, indirectly but securely attached to the urban shore. This walk gets you as close to these dockside abodes as you are legally permitted. You will also see kayaks, seaplanes, a restored former power plant, and the city’s oldest public school."
