Chilly Hilly Ramble

Chilly Hilly Ramble Professional Review and Guide

"The Chilly Hilly ride, held the last weekend in February, is traditionally the first major event of the bicycling season for Puget Sound area cyclists. Several thousand participants brave wet and cold weather to ride the 28-mile loop around Bainbridge Island, across Puget Sound from Seattle.

First of all, the Chilly Hilly includes the features that make bicycling in this area so enjoyable: This ride starts with a ferry ride and then follows low-traffic roads along beautiful shore lands, through lush evergreen forests and friendly communities. Bainbridge, like other islands, is hilly; completing this ride is challenging enough to let you feel proud of your accomplishment. Terrain: hilly, mostly rural roads."

Don't be folled by the mileage. This is not an easy ride given the elevation changes and grades. Also, be mindful of the directions. Fantastic views of the sound all around the island.
