Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Just as there’s no capitol on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, there’s no beacon on Seattle’s Beacon Hill. Financier M. Harwood Young simply named it after the famous affluent district in his hometown of Boston.

A few years ago, it was one of the last neighborhoods within Seattle where middle-class and/or immigrant families could afford to buy homes. Now, as gentrification takes over the entire region, organizers are fighting to keep Beacon Hill’s diverse character alive."
