Ballard Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A local bumper sticker in the mid-2000s read, “We in Ballard welcome our new condo overlords.” Archie McPhee, a novelty store that later moved to Wallingford (Walk 21), sold the sticker. Archie’s left a neighborhood that had originally developed around fishing, sawmills, and Scandinavian immigrant families.

Having mostly survived the condo onslaught, it’s now a quiet bedroom community, the spiritual home of the Seattle and Alaska fishing fleet, a quaint arts and shopping spot, and a happening nightlife zone. We start with the residential section (with some ethnic shopping and dining), then join a historic cobblestoned main street before ending up in the neighborhood’s more modern main drag."

Really great spot! Local school groups touring. Kids really seemed to enjoy the park. Local performing group singing for 1/2 hour. Nice atmosphere.
