The signage at the run’s entry point indicates the Spine Trail. Follow this singletrack route, which connects to the Outer Loop Trail. Along the Outside Loop, there is a bit of climbing and descending. Although serene and peaceful, the trail is never far from the Five Mile Drive, which you will cross several times during the run, first at the 1.25-mile point. The views along the west side of the route include Gig Harbor, and on the east side, Vashon Island and Puget Sound. Although some of the secondary trails are not as well maintained, there is nothing too technical, and any rocky and rooted sections are short.

Hard to believe that in a city you can have old growth trees! Beautiful woodsy walk or run. Wouldn’t do it during the rainy season, which is most of the time here.
