Cooper River Trail

Cooper River Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This route is a rolling 10.8-mile, mostly singletrack out-and-back on a clearly legal trail within the Wenatchee National Forest, near Roslyn. It travels along the Cooper River up to scenic Cooper Lake, utilizing a 1.9-mile paved road and gravel road warm-up and Cooper River Trail #1311.

A mostly paved road descent allows for a loop return option. Although there are no extended climbs on the route, the steep rollers and technical trail combine to make this an intermediate-level ride."

I thought this trail was quite good, similiar to Skookum Flats but a bit more flowy on the return. We rode all the way up to the Wilderness border (~2 miles up Pete Lake trail) for a total ride of 14 miles. I disagree w/ one of the reviews below -- there are barely any unrideable sections for a intermediate & above rider. Great scenery, limited crowds, and some good technical riding. I'd definitely give Cooper River a try.

I have riden this a few times and think that it is a decent ride. There are lots of tree roots, but if it is not wet, they are pretty easy to get over if you are a good rider. The beginning of the trail has some steep sections, but most are rideable. It is a scenic ride that follows the Cooper River and eventually reaches Cooper Lake. You can ride it as an out and back, of you can ride the paved road up (start at Cooper Lake Rd which is about 1 mile before Salmon la Sac campground) and then ride down trail. Also, regarding the other review below, I believe that the Pete Lake trail is in the Wilderness Boundary, so it probably isn't open to bikes.

LOTS of rocks and roots. Not a typical Eastern WA trail. Lots of unridable sections. I'd recommend skipping this one and checking out Pete Lake Trail near the end of this one.
