Sauk Mountain

Sauk Mountain Professional Review and Guide

"Sauk Mountain, an elongated cockscomb just north of the Skagit River Valle, is visible from the city of Mount Vernon. This little tour offers a short hike, a steep 1,300-foot east-facing run down to Sauk Lake, and a climb up and over to return to the car, all with nonstop views of the western North Cascades.

This is an outstanding snowboard tour. From the parking lot you can see the trail stitching up the west face of Sauk Mountain. This generally melts out by early June, while the east face maintains a deep snowpack as late as July."
