This section of the old Milwaukee Railroad right-of-way offers a unique perspective on the desert environment. The trail rolls through some largely untouched sections of desert ecology, providing close-up experiences with the natural plants and animals that thrive in this hostile environment. At other times, the route passes through cultivated farmlands, offering visitors a chance to see the hard work and commitments needed on the part of the farmer to scratch a living from these dry lands. Because the trail passes through private property, it is important that trail users stay on the rail– trail corridor.
