You’re in for a slough of surprises (and a couple of shallow lakes) on this delightful loop that probably packs more species per square acre than any other trail in this book. On this level trail through Columbia River bottomlands, look for sun-basking turtles, playful otters, trotting coyotes, grazing deer—and birds. Lots of birds! From teals to rails, yellowthroats to bitterns.
