Wapaloosie Mountain Trail

Wapaloosie Mountain Trail Professional Review and Guide

"One of the highest summits on the Kettle Crest, Wapaloosie Mountain offers extensive views and some of the finest alpine meadows in eastern Washington. With a predominantly southeastern exposure, the Wapaloosie Trail melts outs early, allowing you and your dog some great early-season high-country hiking.

However, this blessing can be a curse, because after late June water can be scarce on this peak. Pack extra for you and Lassie. Although Wapaloosie’s lofty reaches often bake in the sun, the foot of this mountain is surrounded by extensive wetlands. There’s always a chance to spot a wayward moose, but you’re guaranteed to come within striking distance of a much more prolific critter: the dreaded mosquito! In early summer they breed, swarm, and launch a mean offensive at the trailhead."
