Swan Lake and Butte Trail

Swan Lake and Butte Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Are you looking for a quiet little retreat for you and your dog? A place where the two of you can go on a short hike before or after a day of swimming, fishing, and paddling? A snug lakeside campsite? Look no further than Swan Lake, a tranquil little body of water located in the rolling forested hills above the Sanpoil River valley. The hike around the lake is only 1.5 miles.

Add the trip to Swan Butte and you still have a pretty short hike. However, this loop isn’t meant to be done quickly. The lake and surrounding forest teem with wildlife, and in the late evening or early morning you and your dog will be captivated by a flurry of activity. Mittens was completely mesmerized by the loons, not quite sure what to make of their eerie cries echoing over the placid waters."

Swan Lake is gorgeous! secluded quite and tranquil. the campsites in the lower loop are close to the water and well kept. The trail is an easy walk without much incline although a tree was over the trail at one point when we were there. Watch for the resident Beaver out in the water. We even saw two moose (one swimming). Very nice trail/camp.

This is a beautiful little hike around Swan Lake. When you go, I hope you appreciate the board walk around the swampy parts of the hike as I built it!!!
