I grew up in Republic and drove this pass sometimes weekly in search of adventure. It is a beautiful drive but I strongly recommend avoiding it during winter as it can get QUITE treacherous!!!
This highway is a great place to just have a good time driving with friends and family and to relax as you drive through northern WA. From Kettle Falls all the was to Mt. Vernon is nothing but great views for as far as the eye can see. Up, Down, Left, Right, this road leaves nothing out as it twists through the mountains and fields. Suggested (if you can spare the time) for an alternative to the Interstae
