Sunrise Ridge

Sunrise Ridge Professional Review and Guide

"One of the most view-laden ridge hikes in the Olympics, Sunrise Ridge is also one of the easiest. And it delivers the same jaw-slacking views as Hurricane Hill, but without the asphalt and crowds. Chances are also good that on Sunrise Ridge you’ll encounter some resident wildlife.

Coyotes, deer, bears, and chipmunks—including the endemic Olympic chipmunk—all make themselves at home along this delightful trail. And wildflowers—they grow in profusion, from magenta paintbrush, to spreading phlox, penstemon, lupine, bistort, and larkspur.

Dogs are prohibited."

A well used trail and going from Hurrican Ridge to Kahalane Ridge switchback down to road is recommended for first timers. other way or to and from Sunrise Mt.. it is steep most of way back Lots of great vista in many directions. Day was not crystal clear and still could see Straits of Juan De Fuca. Good hike.
