North Fork Sol Duc River

North Fork Sol Duc River Professional Review and Guide

"A stark contrast from the busy Sol Duc River valley, the North Fork Sol Duc Valley is one of the least hiked routes in the park. An early river ford is part of the reason. But once across, you can traipse through miles of lonely old growth—all the way to a restored shelter if you care to. A handful of elk may greet you along the way.

Dogs are prohibited. Ford required, usually easy by late summer, but potentially dangerous late fall–spring. The trail starts from an overlook above the Sol Duc River."
