Grand Ridge

Grand Ridge Professional Review and Guide

"The views from this open ridge are grand, the wildflowers are grand, and hiking this trail, the highest in the Olympics is a grand experience. Enjoy nonstop views of craggy, glacier-covered peaks; deep, emerald valleys of unbroken old-growth forest; and miles of wildflower-saturated meadows and alpine tundra.

If you can’t arrange for a car shuttle to make this a one-way journey, it’s a tough 14.8-mile roundtrip. However, the 5-mile out-and-back to Elk Mountain, the highest point on the ridge, makes for a good day hike.

Awesome views across the Strait of Juan De Fuca and into the Olympics. Pretty easy trail with a bit of up and down. You start right off in the high country. Best as a long day hike because of lack of water A bit of exposure on a couple parts of the trail that probably is not for the faint of heart.
