Mosquito Lake - Three Peaks Trail

Mosquito Lake - Three Peaks Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Don’t let the name scare you: This is a fine trail with only a few bugs, at least compared to some of the other routes in the South Cascades. Most of the trail stays well clear of water bodies, so the skeeter population is relatively low.

The first section of trail is far from spectacular, but there are unbeatable views once you climb into the beautiful high country on the second half of the route."

Began our trip at the Packwood Lake Trail head. Made our way up to Packwood Lake, which was an easy hike for approx 2 hours. Didn't see anyone on the trail, and there was a few people at the lake for lunch. Continued up Packwood Trail 78 up to Mosquito Lake and onto Lost Lake. Once again, did not cross anyone on the trail, but there were still a few people up at Lost Lake. Quite a few campsites there, but most were filled by the time we reached the lake. Absolutely gorgeous weather, and the fish were jumping every 2 minutes at the lake. We left the Lake the next day and came down the same route.
