Middle Waddell Loop

Middle Waddell Loop Professional Review and Guide

"The challenges of this ride make it a rewarding outing for the advanced rider. Along with the clay and mud, you also ride on hard-packed trail surface. You ride through some clear-cuts, but you also ride through dense, wooded areas, across creeks, and by a couple of spots that open up distant views. The ride includes challenging climbs and fun descents, serpentine trails and fast straight-aways.

It's an inspiring ride and a helluva workout. The trails are less rutted at the top, because inexperienced motorcyclists tend to stay toward the bottom of the mountains and tear up the trails, while the better, more experienced riders venture to the higher elevations and impact the trails to a much lesser degree. Like any loop, you can do this ride either way, but the described clockwise route will save you some slippery descents at the end, when you might be toasted. A physically, technically, and mechanically demanding outing for the advanced rider."

(actually a review of Greenline #6) The lower parts of Capitol were pretty muddy, I rode out from the McKinney camp and made my way back to Greenline #6 and then road this to the C-line and then back. Just past Trail #10 on Greenline, it was pretty darn muddy, but much of the rest of Greenline #6 trail was free of mud and really made for a great ride...passed a couple creepy guys looking for psychedelic shrooms--I'd avoid the poisonous ones!! The are still logging about 4 miles into the Middle Waddel #40 trail and you still get diverted to gravel roads--watch for 60 mph logging trucks!!

The trail is great for people who want a long..long..neverending climb. You almost don't stop climbing until you've reached the top. Not a lot of great downhill here. By the time you get to it you're just about whipped. If you're in great shape have a good bike and like to climb, get on this trail.
