Meet Me at the Feeding Station: Elk and Bighorn Sheep at Oak Creek Professional Review and Guide
"Winter feeding stations attract otherwise elusive elk and bighorn sheep for guaranteed close-up viewing. At Oak Creek Wildlife Area, near Yakima, as many as 2,000 Rocky Mountain elk dine each day. At Oak Creek Wildlife Area, approximately 2,000 elk are fed daily at 1:30 P.M.
In a severe winter as many as 5,000 elk may use the feeding areas. Facilities include a large parking lot, covered viewing area, and rest rooms. The interpretive center is open from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. during most weekends—less often midweek. The center has a slide program, exhibits, a special kid’s corner, and volunteers to answer questions. There is no charge."
