Sauk Mountain

Sauk Mountain Professional Review and Guide

"This is an entirely runnable trail on switchbacks that travel mostly through meadows but with a couple of turns in second-growth forest. It’s a great beginner trail, as well as a good workout for the more advanced runner wishing to sustain speed on inclines. The summit used to have a fire lookout, but it fell into disrepair and was burned by the Forest Service about 15 years ago.

Views of Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan to the north, as well as Glacier Peak and Pugh, Whitehorse, and White Chuck Mountains to the south, are better than any I’ve seen. On crystal clear days, you can see Mount Rainier and the San Juan Islands."
