Railroad Grade via Park Butte Trail

Railroad Grade via Park Butte Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Admire the floral displays of Morovitz Meadows, hike to the Park Butte lookout, or climb along the crest of a moraine created by the Easton Glacier on Mount Baker.

The magic begins on Park Butte trail No. 603—it begins just to the left of the rest room. The trail passes a picnic area and crosses Sulphur Creek on a sturdy bridge. Just beyond is a trail junction for Scott Paul trail No. 603.1. Turn left and continue on trail No. 603—partly on boardwalk—as it passes small ponds and marshes in Schriebers Meadows. Find pink heather and, later in the season, blueberries. Other flowers to look for in July are purple violets, rosy spirea, asters, mountain ash, buttercups, partridgefoot, and hellebore."

Beautiful views from the very impressive glacial moraine walls left by the retreating Easton Glacier on Mt. Baker.
