Walupt Lake Trail to Short Trail Camp and PCT

Morton, Washington

Walupt Lake Trail to Short Trail Camp & PCT Professional Review and Guide

"Follow the entire north shoreline of lovely Walupt Lake. Then climb moderately through old-growth forest to the flower-covered meadows near Short Trail Camp and a junction with the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). The lakeshore at the head of the lake makes a good destination for casual hikers or families. Logs provide sitting places, and fish jump from the clear waters of the lake.

Walupt Lake Trail 101 heads east along the north shore of Walupt Lake. After hiking 70 yards through the dense forest, you reach the Goat Rocks Wilderness boundary at the junction with Nannie Ridge Trail 98. From the junction Nannie Ridge Trail climbs northeast, over Nannie Peak, to join the Pacific Crest Trail at Sheep Lake. Walupt Lake Trail continues east (straight ahead) from the junction."
