Tongue Mountain Summit

Tongue Mountain Summit Professional Review and Guide

"Climb the short but steep trail to the summit of Tongue Mountain, high above the Cispus River. A small grove of short lodgepole pines grow on the summit, providing shelter for a dry campsite. Beargrass and lupine sprout between the trees and huckleberry bushes. On the rocky outcrops, sedum and kinnikinnick grow from the cracks.

A small herd of mountain goats inhabits Tongue Mountain. If you are here in mid- to late summer, you may find their hair sticking to the tree limbs. Mountain goats as well as deer and elk really like to eat the flowers off the tops of the beargrass. Usually there is fairly good cell-phone service from the summit."
