"Marymoor Park has many edges where differing habitats meet. Birds like edges and that makes this park a fun place to go birding, no matter what the season. Spring and fall trips feature neotropical migrants, summer stars include the nesting residents, and in winter waterfowl steal the show. Located at the north end of Lake Sammamish, on the east side of Seattle, the park is more than 600 acres. We used to spend lunch hours here and watch birds in the trees near the parking lots. Habitats: Riparian, wetland, parkland. Specialty birds: Common Loon; Greater White-fronted Goose; Greater Scaup; Barrow’s Goldeneye; Bald Eagle; Peregrine Falcon; Mew and Western Gulls; Band-tailed Pigeon; Shorteared Owl; Black and Vaux’s Swifts; Anna’s and Rufous Hummingbirds; Pileated Woodpecker; Red-breasted Sapsucker; Pacific-slope Flycatcher; Hutton’s and Cassin’s Vireos; Purple Martin."
