Road 16 Jordan Ridge

Road 16: Jordan Ridge Professional Review and Guide

"Great views of distant mountains and nearby peaks, access to a fishermen’s path to remote lakes, and the chance to hike in an area with a dearth of established trails all contribute to making this road a worthwhile jaunt. In some places stands of large old-growth trees make the foreground a pleasant experience as well. Take note that the road extends about twice as far as shown on the 1982 USGS map; the Green Trails and Ranger District maps both show the new road length.

The first 2 miles are a long, steady climb west, up the side of the valley. New and old clearcuts to the left, though not themselves very visible, leave plenty of viewing opportunities for many decades to come. The rock and ice summit of Mount Chaval appears to the southeast early in the hike. The Illabot Peaks, not much to look at on the map, provide a constantly improving sight of waterfalls, rocks, and meadows off to the
left."
