Hidden Lake Lookout

Hidden Lake Lookout Professional Review and Guide

"Hike across flowering meadows, shiny granite boulder fields, and glistening snowfields to a historic fire lookout perched on a precipitous pinnacle. Stare mouth agape at a surrounding serrated
skyline of snow, ice, and rock. And inspect alpine nooks for ptarmigans and pipits, which thrive in this alpine wonderland."

This might be one of my favorite hikes ever. While it is not technically difficult, it has a great pay-off with views of the North Cascades and the trail provides the essence of the cascades. Starts out in the trees and opens into a broad brushy valley (great trail though) and then across a heather meadow and then over white granite slabs with water cascading down them. For an 8 mile round trip with about 3k to 4k elevation gain this is the hike to take your friends on if you want to share what the cascade mountains are all about. I can't wait to get my kids up there. Only down side is that it is a healthy drive from Seattle.
