Mt Baker

Mt. Baker Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Mt. Baker stands as a frozen warrior guarding the expanse of Bellingham Bay mere miles from the Canadian border. It is visible on a clear day from almost any vantage around northern Puget Sound, and its cone can be spied from Mt. Rainier more than 100 miles away. Mt. Baker sports 12 glaciers, which hold as much ice as the 26 major glaciers on Mt. Rainier. The largest are the Coleman and Roosevelt glaciers, fed by an area that extends from Heliotrope Ridge on the west to Bastile Ridge on the east. A climb up the Coleman Glacier is the most common way to reach the summit, a nearly level ice mound situated more than 1300 feet above the actual volcano crater. The Easton and Boulder glaciers on the south side also provide popular routes to the top."
