Willapa National Wildlife Refuge - Long Island

Willapa National Wildlife Refuge - Long Island Professional Review and Guide

"Hike on the largest estuarine island on the Pacific coast. Miles of trails and old woods roads traverse Willapa Bay’s 5460-acre Long Island, allowing access to quiet tidal flats, scenic bluffs, hidden sloughs, and old townsites.

But the biggest attraction on Long Island is its biggest attraction—a grove of giant cedars almost one thousand years old. A boat is needed to access the trailhead. Be sure to check in at refuge headquarters (located across from the boat launch) for bay conditions. Mudflats and weather can make the crossing tricky at times. Dogs are prohibited."
