Staircase Trail

Staircase Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Forest flowers galore, fairyslippers, vanilla leaf, dwarf salal, woodnymph, twinflower, devil’s club. I could go on and on—but go see for yourself.

It was a beautiful day when we parked at Staircase and started up the trail lined with vanilla leaf and yellow Johnny jump-ups, plus a nice showing of trilliums. Some elk ran across the trail in front of us. Hike along a staircase of spectacular rapids through moss-draped groves of maples, alders, cedars, and Douglas firs."

Nice trail; not too difficult or steep; went from the ranger station to Big Log campground and then to Pleasant camp. Beautiful river views. Lots of mosquitos!
