Diamond Head

Diamond Head Professional Review and Guide

"The high point of US 97 between US 2 and Interstate 90 is called “Swauk” by the USFS and “Blewett” by WSDOT. While the terrain near here does not offer large-scale descents, the snow quality and better weather make for worthwhile visits.

Diamond Head, just 1.7 miles southeast of Swauk/Blewett Pass, has short but steep gullies on its western bulwark, a nice run on its northern side, and gentler forested and clear-cut slopes on its southern and southeastern aprons. Difficulties: Moderate avalanche potential (high in gullies); permit / fee area."
