Icicle Creek

Icicle Creek Professional Review and Guide

"A backpack up Icicle Creek to Lake Josephine, with many options. Icicle Creek is the major drainage of the northeastern portion of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The creek flows through one of the deepest canyons in the Cascade Range, more than a mile deep as measured from the top of Icicle Ridge to the depths of Icicle Creek.

A popular hiking trail follows the creek some 11 miles to its source at Josephine Lake. The hike is not popular in its own right so much as it is heavily used to access the many trails leading to sparkling lakes and scenic ridges in this corner of the wilderness. Hikers, horsemen, and fishermen swarm up the trail all summer. Don’t expect solitude here, unless you find it at a remote lake or high ridge away from the canyon floor."
