"Explore two little lakes high on Chuckanut Mountain. Despite the trailhead being just minutes from downtown Bellingham, you won’t be rubbing packs with scores of hikers here. The initial steepness of this trail helps mitigate the crowds, sending the huddled masses instead to nearby Fragrance Lake. Pine and Cedar make wonderful destinations in their own right. But save some energy to push farther—to a hovering ledge with satisfying views of Mount Baker and the San Juan Islands." Read more

I would not call this an easy trail! The first section is straight uphill, no switchbacks. However, it is worth the effort, you are rewarded with beautiful alpine lakes and great views. Be sure to wear bug repellent though!
