Northern Mount St Helens Loop Backpacking

Northern Mount St. Helens Loop (Backpacking) Professional Review and Guide

"The popular and well-known southern portions of Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument feature great scenery, awesome volcanic landscapes, and, not surprisingly, lots of people. Those who prefer solitude and quieter campsites, however, have another option in the more remote northern part of the preserve.

This loop hike samples all of this little known area’s charms: lush forest, possibly the monument’s best waterfall, high ridgetop viewpoints, and a lovely mountain lake. Best of all, you do not need reservations to camp here, and the odds are reasonably good you will have the scenery all to yourself."
