Foulweather Bluff Preserve Trail

Foulweather Bluff Preserve Trail Professional Review and Guide

"The Nature Conservancy has saved 100 acres and maintains a delightful short forest walk to a low beach on the north end of the Kitsap Peninsula across from the Hood Canal Bridge. Once called the Secret Beach by local residents, it’s no secret anymore. The level trail winds through old second-growth Douglas-fir, cedar, and madronas.

A driftwood-covered beach fronts a half-mile sandy expanse, with sweeping views of the Olympics; behind it lies a pristine wetland lagoon, usually filled with birds. Begin walking through fern-studded second-growth forest with some roots for children to step over. The low gravel and sand beach will delight them, particularly when the tide is out. Returning saltwater can be at bathtub temperature, so they will want to wade."
