Northwest Timber Trail

Northwest Timber Trail Professional Review and Guide

"With little elevation change and a modest distance, this is a great Tiger Mountain trail for after work, especially on hot summer days. The cool forest tempers the worst summer heat wave, while the lush forests provide all the relaxation you could want. As you trek along this multiuse trail (open to horses and mountain bikes as well as hikers), keep silent and you’re likely to hear the raucous calls of ravens, the screams of hawks, the chirps of juncos, and the rat-a-tat-tats of woodpeckers.

The forest, lush second growth that resulted after the harvest of the original forest by northwest timber companies in the early 1900s, is a mix of old maples and alders--many draped beautifully with long beards of moss and lichen--as well as hemlocks and firs."
