Cape Disappointment State Park

Cape Disappointment State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is a mighty nice campground considering the rugged terrain and brutish winter weather. It was here, at Cape Disappointment, that Lewis and Clark finally reached the Pacific Ocean in 1805.

The campsites are on the sea side of this 1,882-acre park. Nearby, Lake O’Neil has 1.3 miles of shoreline, and the park itself includes 8 miles of shoreline on the Columbia River and Pacific Ocean. There are 4 miles of hiking trails that lead through the park, to the beaches, to a pair of lighthouses (North Head and Cape Disappointment), and through old-growth forests."
