A prominent rocky knoll along the Columbia River just west of Hood River, Mitchell Point was once the site of a beautiful five-window tunnel on the old Columbia River Highway, modeled after Switzerland’s Axenstrasse. In 1966 this engineering marvel was destroyed to make way for i-84.
