Shadow Lake – Sunrise Camp Loop Trail

Shadow Lake – Sunrise Camp Loop Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This is the perfect outing for families, or for anyone wanting an easy day in the glorious wildflower fields of the Sunrise area.

Indeed, if you have out-of-town guests you want to impress, this gentle mountain stroll will have them thinking you live in heaven on earth. This little loop explores wonderful alpine meadows and provides glorious views of Mount Rainier, with very little elevation gain."

Allow about 2 hours of driving time from the Nisqually entrance of the park. Even the drive is a pleasant one. We were coming through the park late morning and we had the opportunity to see the clouds clear from peaks. I had taken my 7 year old daughter and 4 year old son. We arrived at the Sunrise Lodge about lunch time and after a quick lunch we headed out. The vistas were incredible! We went up on a very wide and frequently used trail (in excellent condition) to Frozen Lake. We then began exploring on several lower trails. Returning by one of the lower trails to the parking lot. The weather was cool can clear and fleece as a must. The clouds began to move in just as we were getting ready to leave. The overall experience left the kids talking about it for a couple of days.
