Schweitzer Creek Loop

Schweitzer Creek Loop Professional Review and Guide

"The majority of this 10.8-mile loop (which also includes an out-and-back leg) is on gravel roads in fair to good condition. There is no warming up on this ride; you begin with steep climbing. Steep grades quickly give way to moderate ones and then to easy uphill pedaling. The outing ends with fast, twisty downhills. There is some washboarding on the steep hills.

This loop is nice, though unremarkable. You climb past some pleasant, cascading creeks near the start of the ride. Logging operations have created some openings in the forest canopy; these gaps allow glimpses of snowcapped peaks in the Boulder River Wilderness. Rounding out the highlights are a stroll to a small lake and a short trail through a stand of old-growth cedar."
