Here's an important note: the directions for this trail are completely inaccurate. In fact, the directions listed in the book, "Roads - to - Trails", for this hike, are the directions for Mallardy Ridge, a few hikes back in the book. I generally end up lost when I go looking for a hike, so when I encountered nothing of what was described in the book about Devils Ridge, I didn't think much of it. I did take some pictures though, and when I got home and had them developed, one in particular stood out. There's an old snag as you round a bend that looks like it has an eagle launching into flight on the top of it, and if you look at the picture for Mallardy Ridge, you'll see that exact picture. I'm not sure how this happened, but be forewarned if you try either hike. It's a very nice walk in the woods, with some views and a little stream in the ditch to the right. A further word of caution: on my way back down the road, I noticed beside my soilitary boot tracks, there was a very large cat track. I asked the locals in town if they knew of cougars up there and they hadn't heard of any recently, but if I went again I'd keep an eye out.
