Boardman Lake and Lake Evan Trail

Boardman Lake and Lake Evan Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Two large forest lakes lie within 1 mile of the parking area. The first, Lake Evan, is just off the road—convenient for parents of toddlers who seek a wooded picnic spot. The second, Boardman Lake, with only 200 feet of trail elevation, is deeper, cleaner, and larger and offers trout fishing and views of Bald Mountain. Children will enjoy wading and splashing from the shore, whether the stay is for a day or overnight."

This is a fairly easy hike. Although there are a few steep spots, it is mostly an easy walk. A couple of switchbacks and stairs make short work of the more difficult sections. The lake at the end of the trail is well worth the hike. Traversing the log jamb at the lake outlet to get to the other side cab be tricky if the logs are wet. Otherwise that too can be fun. The best times to make this trek are in late spring or early to late summer. Otherwise it can be very wet and slippery. For those who like to fish - this lake has some very nice brook trout!
