Wallace Falls Railway Trail

Wallace Falls Railway Trail Professional Review and Guide

"On this trek you’ll head uphill on a railroad grade for 2.5 miles. Then a 1.5-mile ascent continues on a narrow walking trail up steep switchbacks, through deep woods, and over wooden bridges to spectacular views of Wallace Falls.

Get ready for a great workout while you enjoy a rural road trip and a scenic trail with the convenience of camping and the proximity of good food. Surface: Dirt, somewhat rocky. Location: Wallace Falls State Park, town of Gold Bar, Snohomish County."

For our first "hike" it wasn't too bad. Trail gets steep in parts and you need to watch out for roots and rocks, but beautiful scenery and the falls are really cool.

Trail was pretty good for novice hikers. I have weak ankles and portions of the Woody Trail was a little difficult. We were all huffing and puffing by the lower Falls. We found that the rail trail to be easier and longer, a little less exciting - but a lot easier on my ankles!
