Welcome Pass

Welcome Pass Professional Review and Guide

"The trail begins in deep old forests at a low 2200 feet elevation and climbs steeply and relentlessly all the way to the view-rich pass, gaining an average of 1000 feet with every mile of trail. And because the first mile is mild and gentle, the rest of the route is even more ruthlessly steep.

The trail turns through so many switchbacks that you’re in danger of meeting yourself coming as you plod up through the tight corners. Before heading up this thigh-bursting trail, make sure you and your pup are well conditioned for the climb, and then make sure you have several quarts of water in your pack to keep the both of you well hydrated along the way."
